Admission Criteria
- Youth must have an Axis I DSM IV diagnosis which includes: ADHD, Disruptive Behavior Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Mood Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Attachment Disorder, Impulse Control Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Adjustment Disorders
- Youth must be male and within the ages of 12-17 at the time of admission
- Youth must not be presenting any symptoms requiring inpatient hospitalization such as: active psychosis, including hallucinations or delusional behavior; homicidal or suicidal ideation; self-harming behavior.
- Youth may have an Axis II diagnosis of Mild Mental Retardation (IQ 55-70), provided he demonstrates an ability to understand and follow the rules of conduct and the behavior management plan. The youth’s ability to function in accordance with the Horizon House program will be determined during a pre-placement interview and screened during the Orientation Phase.
- Youth must be willing to participate in the program as indicated by a pre-placement interview with the Program Director, and/or the Clinical Director/Director of Residential Services.
Exclusion Criteria
- DSM IV Axis II diagnosis of Mental Retardation other than Mild Mental Retardation (IQ 55-70) as stated above
- DSM IV Axis II diagnosis of a Pervasive Developmental Disorder
- Current DSM IV Axis II diagnosis of a Personality Disorder or a Psychotic Disorder
- Current DSM IV Axis I diagnosis of a Substance Related Disorder
- Actively psychotic behavior including hallucinations and delusions
- History of a sexual offense
- Fire setting
- Active suicidal or homicidal ideation or self-harming behavior
